Do not do it. This is the slogan of the national government campaign, produced by the Department of Information and Publishing, which intends to raise awareness of road accidents among young people. Particularly those related to driving after the consumption of alcohol and drugs. Based on the most recent and verified data, the campaign invites a general and personal reflection.

Do not do it

Precisely from the data collected, every year in our country, more than 6.500 road accidents are caused by alcohol and drugs. Road accidents are overall the leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 24. More than 90 percent of all road accidents could be avoided by adopting correct behaviour. Everyone knows that anyone who drives after taking alcohol or drugs becomes a danger to themselves and others. However, it is appropriate to ask ourselves why so many accidents still occur and, consequently, strongly highlight how important it is to adopt prudent behavior before getting behind the wheel.

The objectives of the campaign are: to inform citizens about the extent and some characteristics of the phenomenon of road accidents. Raise citizens' awareness on the subject of behavior to adopt before driving, with particular reference to abstaining from alcohol and drugs. And, again, to involve the younger communities on issues of road safety and the use of alcohol and drugs. The primary target for which the campaign is intended are young people between the ages of 15 and 29, Italian citizens or citizens of another EU country or young foreigners residing in Italy. While the secondary target is families and institutions who play an active role in the guidance of young people.
