For days there has been talk of the travel ban for Lecce fans in Milan. Lecce had appealed to the TAR and they were right. Below is the statement.
“US Lecce announces that yesterday it filed an appeal with the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court against the decree of the Prefect of Milan which forbade the transfer, on the occasion of the Inter – Lecce match, to residents of Lecce and its province.
With monocratic decree n. 234 of 2023, published today, the Lombardy TAR accepted the precautionary request proposed by Us Lecce and suspended the prefectural decree.
"The TAR - the words of the president Saverio Sticchi Damiani - has expressed an important principle qualifying as incongruous and illogical the prefect's provision which, to sanction events that occurred on the occasion of Atalanta - Lecce, imposed a ban on away games in a match that does not involve the same fans.
I thank the director general Giuseppe Mercadante, the head of the legal area Domenico Zinnari, my colleague Antonio Caiffa, for the great effort they have all collaborated brilliantly for the success of this procedural initiative.
Finally, I apologize to the media for having chosen not to disclose the news of the appeal to avoid a media debate that preceded the decision of the TAR."
