Last January XNUMXst it was released in all Italian cinemas the new cinecomic of DC and Warner Bros. We're talking about Aquaman, the superhero born from the love between queen of Atlantis and a simple Lighthouse keeper. And as in all films of this genre, here too they abound fighting spectacular, rompers adherents e supervillains. However, the locations where the film is set should also be mentioned, some simply spectacular like our beloved Sicilia.
In search of the lost trident with Aquaman
The film traces the origins of Aquaman and his rise to the throne of Atlantis. To play the protagonist there is Jason Momoa, famous for his role in the Game of Thrones and for his sculpted abs. At his side the Princess Mera, interpreted by the sensual Amber Heard. The two, after the initial events on the birth of Aquaman, set out in search of the Sacred Trident of King Atlan, capable of giving great power to those who wield it. The goal is only one: to avoid a war between the underwater world and the surface world.
Thus the adventures of our heroes follow one another around the five continents: Australia, Sahara, Asia, but also Europe. Where is it? TO Erice, a small Sicilian pearl where time seems to have stopped in the XNUMXs, with pretty old ladies and kids playing as a backdrop to the events of the film.
Here Aquaman and Mera discover the beauty, the art , cordiality Italian company, all while searching for more clues to retrieve the Trident. The serene and joyful atmosphere, however, is abruptly interrupted by the enemies, committed to stopping the two by any means. Hence, a long and adrenaline-fueled pursuit develops, shot with a sequence of scenes that will keep us glued to the screen. Between an explosion and a few fistfights, the protagonists then leave the city to head elsewhere.
Erice: timeless beauty
In about 40 minutes Aquaman makes us admire a Sicily of other times, traditional, artistic and at times magical. But how much is it true? Very, considering the beauty of the town of Erice.
Founded, second Thucydides, from the Trojans fleeing to the Mediterranean, Erice is one of the oldest towns on the island. It is mentioned by Virgilio inAeneid while - according to a legend - its foundation is attributed to the hero Erice, who would have challenged another much more famous hero to a duel: Hercules.
But the history of the city is certainly not the only thing worth mentioning. In fact, among its streets it is possible to come across a long series of real architectural and artistic jewels. From the Church di San John Baptist (reproduced in the film) al Castle di Venus, going through the lengths mura cyclopean: its historic center is a priceless treasure.
In Aquaman, however, there is not only Erice, but also a small section of the beach of San Vito Lo Capo: the Zingaro reserve. This location, thanks to its structure and beauty, was very precious for the director, who decided to reproduce it in the film. A small source of pride, especially if we consider that Aquaman was filmed in countries where there was certainly no shortage of beautiful beaches.
