In the evocative setting of the Capo Gallo oriented nature reserve, a Punta Barcarello in Palermo, a real gem is hidden. A mini trulli village which appears to have been transported directly from Puglia. This picturesque corner of Sicily, located in the village of Sferracavallo, enchants visitors with its fascinating cone-shaped buildings and other curious stone structures.

Punta Barcarello and its mini trulli

The trulli, just 130 centimeters high, recall in an extraordinary way the famous constructions of Alberobello, in the heart of Puglia. They are not the only ones though. In fact, what makes this place even more fascinating is the variety of works and architectural oddities scattered along Punta di Barcarello. This small peninsula, easily reachable on foot from the Sicilian gulfs of Mondello and Sferracavallo, is a authentic open-air museum with sea view.

In addition to the miniature trulli, it is possible to admire a reproduction of an Egyptian sphinx, a gigantic fishing boat transformed into a extraordinary planter and even one small church. In the past, the small church may have played the role of a refuge for local guardians and as a guard outpost, earning it the nickname "Fortino".

Creativity and love

All this is part of an area of 586 hectares which includes the majestic Monte Gallo, culminating in Capo Gallo, where a lighthouse signals its presence to arriving ships. The artist who created these works is not known exactly, but some are local testimonies speak of three retired elderly people. An authentic demonstration of creativity and love for tradition that brought a piece of Puglia into the world Sicilia, creating a one-of-a-kind tourist attraction. Come and discover this little hidden treasure, where history and beauty come together in an enchanting Mediterranean embrace.
