There will be a piece of Italy on the train of the future!
This is thanks to his branded suspensions Made in Italy designed by some students of the University of Pisa. In fact, the project chosen for the suspensions of thehyperloops, the train of the future, which will be built in the next few years thanks to the contribution of hundreds of engineers from all over the world.
Hyperloop: the train of tomorrow
The father of the medium which will revolutionize the system and the way of traveling is called Elon Musk, entrepreneur considered the new Steve Jobs and best known for having founded SpaceX and, together with another partner, the PayPal payment system.
The American naturalized South African, with the collaboration of engineers from SpaceX and Tesla Motors, intends to make the dream of being able to travel at over 1200 kilometers / hour in a capsule (POD) above simple rails a reality, covering a distance equal to that between Milan and Rome in about thirty minutes, all without emitting any type of toxic substance to the environment.
To achieve this, Musk has set up a worldwide competition to collect the best ideas for what will be the means of transport of tomorrow. And among the finalists is also Ales Tech, the startup headed by young university students Luca Cesaretti and Lorenzo Andrea Parrotta to which must be added Tommaso Sartor, Andrea Paraboschi, Antonio Davola and the professors Alberto di Minin and Massimo Bergamasco.
Italian pride
Ales Tech is the only Italian company present in the final phase of the project. The suspensions designed by the Pisan engineers provide for an operation similar to the classic spring suspensions, but with a digital control system that will regulate every single and minimal jolt, keeping the capsule stable on the rails. Said like this, it may be a not so complex project, but imagine it on an object that speeds over a thousand kilometers / h: even a slight oscillation of half a millimeter could cause a disaster if not adequately contained.
The Pisan students (indeed formerly given that in the meantime they have completed their cycle of studies) started working on the project in the classrooms of the Faculty of Engineering of Pisa and then founded the startup Ales Tech.
Currently they can count on the support of various entrepreneurs, but they are still engaged in the search for other useful funds to optimize their idea in order to be able to apply it in other fields. In fact, according to the engineers, the suspensions designed can be used in various fields: from heavy vehicles to roller coaster wagons, passing through ordinary cars. All this without moving half a centimeter from Pisa.
The ecosystem that has been created in the Pisan universities, according to the creators of the project, is a true magnet of talents and the fact of finding oneself in a reality that is not excessively large like that of the Tuscan city allows students to meet in close contact and share ideas like those that gave birth to the suspensions of the future.
