Italian Capital of Culture 2025: the candidate cities for the coveted target are 16. They will have to submit the application dossier by 13 September next. A rich presentation which, as usual, will be submitteda to the evaluation of a commission of seven experts in the management of cultural heritage. The title of Italian Capital of Culture, wanted by the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini, it is awarded for a period of one year. The winning city receives one million euros for the realization of the project presented.

In the dossier there must be the title of the candidacy, the illustration of the cultural project lasting one year. The project in question must contain the time schedule of the individual activities envisaged. In addition, the body in charge of elaborating and promoting the project process, its implementation and the monitoring of the results must be indicated. As well as the person responsible for the project itself must be indicated. And then again, the economic and financial sustainability of the proposed cultural project must be highlighted, together with the objectives set, in terms of quality and quantity.
By 15 November 2022, the commission will define the short list of the 10 finalist cities, the evaluation procedure will be completed by 17 January 2023. The candidate cities are Agrigento, Aosta, Assisi (Perugia), Asti, Bagnoregio (Viterbo), Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria. And, again, Enna, Lanciano (Chieti), Monte Sant'Angelo (Foggia), Orvieto (Terni), Otranto (Lecce), Peccioli (Pisa), Pescina (L'Aquila). Roccasecca (Frosinone), Spoleto (Perugia), Sulmona (L'Aquila). Therefore, three Umbrian and three Abruzzese cities should be mentioned among the candidates. Many regions are absent, including Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Campania, Sardinia. Five capital cities and 11 non-capitals are in contention, including the Orange Flag of Peccioli.
