A trip is always a fascinating experience that allows us not only to get to know new worlds, but also to get to know ourselves better. Before leaving for a trip, however, it is good to know what documents and procedures are required to enter another country. Let's imagine that our destination is Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean, known for its magnificent beaches, its charming colonial cities, the melodies of its musicians, vintage cars and much more. Who has never dreamed of reaching it even for just a short holiday? In order to arrive in this splendid land, you need to know that in addition to your passport, you need to have a visa, which is a mandatory document even for minors.
The Cuba visa can be requested online
To travel to Cuba, as we have already underlined, it is necessary to have a visa, which is also called “tourist's tarjeta”. This green paper document is mandatory for all Italian and European citizens who intend to choose this destination. Applying for a visa is very simple: just access the website https://visti.it/cuba and forward the request by filling out the online form provided specifically for this purpose. The request can be made for oneself, for another or more people and has a cost of 44,95 euro per person (service costs, shipping costs, consular costs and VAT are included in the price). Payment can be made securely online, with Visa, Mastercard, Nexi, American Express, Postepay or PayPal.
Compilation: a few tips to get off to a safe start
The Cuba visa is sent by post within one week of request. The recipient's signature is not required upon receipt of the document. Before you can use the visa, you must fill it in carefully, correctly copying the passport data, which must be the same one that will be used during the holiday: surname, name, date of birth, passport number, citizenship are those to be listed. If the completed document contains even a single error, it is not considered valid. It is therefore very important that data is reported correctly. During the trip, the visa must be kept together with the passport, in hand luggage, so that it can be easily shown at the right time.
Visa requirements and validity
Anyone who submits the request online on the website https://visti.it/cuba does not need to go to Consulate of Cuba in Milan or at the Cuban Embassy in Rome. If you went directly to the Consulate to request a visa, however, you would pay a supplement of 25,00 euros per person. The visa, which, we reiterate, is also mandatory for minors, can be requested well in advance of the departure date, since it does not indicate an arrival date. The visa also allows you to stay in Cuba for up to a maximum of 90 days from the date of arrival at your destination. By contacting an office of the Department of Immigration in Cuba, it is possible to extend the maximum duration of stay up to 180 days. The passport used to apply for the visa must have a residual validity of at least 7 months at the time of arrival. The tourist visa does not allow you to work in Cuba. For those arriving by cruise ship or flight from the United States of America, a special pink visa is required, which differs only in price from the normal green one.
