Gianmarco Tamberi has become World Champion in the high jump in the Athletics World Championships underway in Budapest, Hungary. With this victory Gimbo fully enters the history of the Italian sport.

Gianmarco Tamberi conquered the gold medal in his specialty or the high jump with an extraordinary 2,36 centered on the first attempt, beating the American Juvaughn Harrison and also Mutaz Barshim with whom he shared the top step of the podium at the Tokyo Olympics.
An example of an athlete who was reborn from the ashes after the very serious ankle accident in 2016. Determination, training, sacrifice and great talent have led the thirty-one year old from the Marches, already an Olympic champion, under the Fiamme Gialle to the great results achieved in these years.
“Gimbo” Italian pride
Tamberi calls himself “Gimbo” and he is one who stands out for his bizarre looks; the quirk that made him famous is the beard shaved only half, often colored too. Gimbo has a very personal style,
loves rock and basketball. He married his lifelong girlfriend, Chiara Bontempi in September 2022. He dedicated this victory to her and his father, a former athlete and coach.
He is the highest flying man in the world. He accomplished a memorable feat that crowned him absolute Champion.
