When in Rome do as the Romans do…

We Italians who live in Malta are many, because we like this island, so beautiful and hospitable, a lot. However, sometimes we are amazed in front of things that we fail to understand, but that make us smile 🙂

Fireworks

fires 1-2

And nothing, we Italians are unable to understand ... why are fireworks being fired in Malta for the whole summer? Why at all hours and above all, why also during the day?
It all begins with the beautiful fireworks festival in Valletta, the fires are magnificent, people organize themselves in time to grab the places from which you can see the show at its best but then, the dream turns into a nightmare. Shooting and noises continue endlessly, people complain, dogs bark, the fires remain ...

The food

food

Let's face it, we Italians are touchy with food, but sometimes we are also right, maybe, what do you say? We drink coffee, espresso, but is it so difficult to make a good espresso? We like sandwiches, but what does it take to put raw and mozzarella in a sandwich? And then, carbonara pasta is made without onion and without cream, right?

Eurovision

Toto Cutugno

Did you see Eurovision last night? But even no!
The Eurovision song contest is a singing competition that takes place every year in May, the final is always live. This year it took place in Stockholm, for Malta Ira Losco participated, much loved by the Maltese people, for Italy Francesca Michielin competed, did you know? 🙂

In conclusion, it must also be said that we Italians are second to none when it comes to oddities. Between showy gestures and imaginative conjurations, we know how to get noticed.
That's right, country you go, customs you find!
