The Frecce Tricolori will fly over Milan. The air show will take place this morning, starting at 10.45am, and will last approximately ten minutes. The flyover is among the events scheduled for the celebrations of the centenary of theAeronautica Militare Italian, founded on 28 March 1923.
A tribute to Lombardy and the city
The Frecce Tricolori air show will focus mainly above the Duomo and the buildings of the regional institutions, Pirelli Palace (Pirellone) e Lombardy Palace. The show, explained the Colonel Maurice Daniel, head of the general affairs office of the 1st Milan air region command, "represents a further recognition that the Air Force wants to pay to a territory and, above all, to a community to which it is historically and strongly linked".
The same president of the Lombardy regional council, Federico Romani, explained: “When the Pirellone was conceived and built it was a visionary building enough to give a glimpse of the future. Characteristics that also tell the centenary history of the Air Force well."
In October, an exhibition will close the events
The Frecce Tricolori flyover will be preceded, at 10am, by institutional greetings at the Jannacci Belvedere on the 31st floor of Palazzo Pirelli. In addition to the president Federico Romani, the president of the Lombardy region will speak, Attilio Fontana, and the General Francesco Vestito, commander of the first air region of Milan.
A series of events have already taken place over the past weekend, with the opening of Linate military airport to the public. Here, from 9am to 19pm, it was possible to admire aircraft, vehicles and simulators. The celebratory events will end with an exhibition at Palazzo Pirelli which, from 10 October, will retrace the history of the first hundred years of the Air Force through thematic panels, graphic tables and videos.
