Tortellant. Bottura continues to surprise us. On November 12 there was the cutting of the ribbon for the opening of the workshop which sees the participation of autistic children. Here, at the “Tortellante” headquarters, the school includes young people with autism spectrum disorder. The activity involves the production of fresh pasta, a real excellence typical of the Modena region. The "Tortellant“, With the extraordinary participation of the award-winning chef Bottura, had seen the light only two years ago by the association "Aut Aut".

A laboratory for therapeutic purposes

Il Tortellant it looks like a fantastic laboratory for therapeutic purposes as well as enabling to learn the art of cooking. A project that wisely mixes training and reintegration skills to improve the autonomy of children. But Bottura together with the entire association headed by president Erika Coppelli, he managed to do much more.

Il Tortellant it does not have the sole purpose of teaching, recreational and social. He also presented himself as an excellent ally to meet the world of work. Not to mention the skills developed within the team that continually pushes the young person to interact with the surrounding world. Furthermore, not only the protagonists of this adventure benefit from this initiative but also the families who feel supported in the transition to adulthood.

Everything comes from good raw material

Tortellini, the typical Modenese filled pasta, has a record that far surpasses our Alps. It is from the thin egg puff pastry, skilfully manipulated, that everything is born.

A characteristic traditional flavor and yet such a simple product that it has been able to change the lives of many young autistic people. Feedback from families was positive, as was from volunteers. But Tortellante could not have been born without the help of his technical staff. The team is supervised by Franco Nardocci, Neuropsychiatrist and Past President SINPIA (Italian Society of NeuroPsychiatry of Childhood and Adolescence). Also present are the coordinating psychologists Alessandro Rebuttini and Martina Rossetti.

Results of the project

From the year of birth, 2016, up to the next, it took place at "Aut Aut" Modena the first pilot project which saw the participation of 21 young people between 15 and 27 years of age with different skill levels. They participated in the various activities for two hours a week divided into three groups. The result was more than satisfactory. “Aut Aut” is functional for children with autism, even for those with a reduced level of autonomy. As is already known, in various cases autistic children have proved to be more skilled than their peers, showing a passion for work and a methodical approach. From the assessments carried out at the end of the course, it emerged that young people have strengthened their self-image, increasing their capacity for autonomy. Last but not least, they have improved various aspects not taken for granted for their ailment such as working as a team and respecting the rules. We can only wish him to continue on the same path.

Do you want to give your contribution to the project too? What are you waiting for?
