After the forced stop due to the pandemic, the Befana returns to the squares of Rome. On 6 January, the traditional historical-religious and folkloric procession of "Viva la Befana" returns to the capital. The fashion show takes place in via della Conciliazione up to St. Peter's Square. In this 36th edition, the Magi, coming from the Umbrian city of Foligno, will be accompanied by a thousand costumed extras with the famous Giostra della Quintana. Flag-wavers, bands, majorettes, cowherds, horses and original sets to represent the history, culture and traditions of the territories involved.
Expected participation under the banner of peace, solidarity and brotherhood among peoples of historical groups from various Italian regions. Unmissable Fanfare of the 4th Carabinieri Regiment on horseback and Bersaglieri ANB Fanfare After the Angelus the Three Kings will bring the traditional gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to Pope francesco.
The Befana of Piazza Navona and that of the policemen
In Piazza Navona and in Piazza delle Cinque Lune the Befana of the firefighters returns. As per tradition, a fireman will wear the clothes of the beloved old lady and distribute sweets to the children. The broom launch will take place at 10 o'clock from the church tower of Sant'Agnese in Agone, a beautiful flight from a height of fifty meters will make the scene fantastic in the eyes of the children and adults present, in the magnificent Capitoline baroque square. Also scheduled are shows with street artists who will perform throughout the weekend.
Among the many events with the old lady who brings gifts also "The Befana in.. Police” now in its 22nd edition. A charity event organized by the guardians of public order that will have among the most awaited guests Maurizio Battista e Paolo Pasquali, Alias Doctor Vintage. Friday 6 January, doors open therefore for adults and children at Golden Theater of Via Taranto where at 10 the Befana of the policemen will arrive. The event, conceived in 1999 by the late Cavaliere Aniello Russo, is organized this year by ACAH All Cops Are Heroes, Polsoccer and Love Cup. And, then, have fun for young and old with the Befana of Rome!
