The Maxxi in Rome is about to welcome an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to an icon of Italian art and humor: Jacovitti, the brilliant creator of Cocco Bill. This exceptional anthological exhibition, entitled 'The irrepressible art of humour', is curated by Dino Aloi and Silvia Jacovitti, in collaboration with Giulia Ferracci. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Jacovitti's creative universe from 25 October to 18 February 2024. The exhibition is part of the “Jacovittissimamente” project, which also includes the exhibition “Tutte le follie di Jac”, curated by Luca Raffaelli and already open at the Macte Museum of Contemporary Art in Termoli until 25 February 2024.

The exhibition at Maxxi promises to be an extraordinary experience. The installation will be a show of colors and creativity, a journey into Jacovitti's irreverent and playful imagination. The exhibition will present 450 works on an area of 400 square meters, including original plates from Silvia Jacovitti's personal archive and magazines of the time. This journey, structured in nine sections, begins with the artist's debut in 1939 and offers a journey through her entire extraordinary career. In addition to Cocco Bill, who accompanied entire generations of children, the exhibition displays more than 100 unforgettable characters born from the cartoonist's pencil.

Dino Aloi, curator of the event and numerous exhibitions on the artist states: “The largest contemporary art museum clears comics. Jacovitti is in the collective imagination and each of us has a piece of him in mind. We try to satisfy everyone with the widest possible representation, even if the Maxxi alone would not be enough to encompass the entire greatness of the artist.” Silvia Jacovitti, Jacovitti's daughter, comments with emotion: “It took me 25 years to get to Rome, they always told me that there was no money, whatever political party they were. They finally understood who Jacovitti is. With Dino Aloi I have been trying to keep my father's image alive since 1998 when the first major exhibition was held in Turin. Here at Maxxi the magic is all there, it's like entering the world of fantasy.”

All that remains is to prepare yourself for a unique experience that celebrates the timeless art and humor of an extraordinary artist who continues to capture the imagination and attention of generations of fans around the world.
