It kicks off tomorrow June 5th, The Adversary, the new original format produced by Rai Cultura, which marks the debut of the former football player and coach, Marco Tardelli. The former champion of the World Cup '82 he therefore made his debut on TV in the guise of conductor and narrator to tell not his extraordinary career but that of six other sporting champions. Specifically it is about Antonio Cassano, Roberto Mancini, Federica Pellegrini, Lea Pericoli, Michel Platini and Franco Menichelli. The show will be broadcast every Monday at 23,15 pm on Rai 3.

The opponent

Tardelli was the creator, with Rossi and Altobelli, of the legendary victory against Germany which in 82 made Italy conquer the World Cup. In six episodes, the great champion will retrace the careers and lives of these equally extraordinary sportsmen, through the story of the countless obstacles and adversities they had to overcome, both on and off the field, in their climb to success. Tardelli meets and interviews them to bring to light the adversaries, difficulties and inner demons they have faced in their careers and personal lives. From the World Cup to Mancini to the inner anxieties and fears for the 'divine' Pellegrini, from the prejudices of a right-thinking and chauvinist society for Pericoli to the love-hate relationship with Italy for 'le roi' Platini.

Up to Menichelli's small body which did not allow him to become a professional footballer through his rebellious and refractory character to authority for Cassano, the Bari champion who grew up in a difficult environment, who will be the protagonist of the first episode. Tardelli, who coached Cassano when he was coach of the Italian under-21 national team, retraces his sporting history through an ironic and intimate interview. From his childhood lived without a father in Bari Vecchia, where he enjoyed playing football already proving to be a football wizard, to the turning point when he was seventeen when he made his debut in Serie A with a wonderful goal during a Bari-Inter match. A match that will earn him a place in Rome alongside his all-time idol, Francesco Totti. The Adversary, a Rai Cultura and Stand by me production, was written by Andrea Felici and Giulia Soi; directed by Daniele Santa.
