Neapolitans and all lovers of the world of photography will be able to enjoy the works of one of its greatest exponents. The Palazzo delle Arti in Naples will host Steve McCurry's photography with an exhibition entitled Without Borders.
On stage from 28 October 2016 to 12 February 2017, Without Borders is a collection of photographs concerning the history of contemporary man. A story made above all of pain, suffering and war, but also of hope and rebirth.
We also remind you that on October 27 it will be possible to meet McCurry himself during the inauguration of the exhibition at the Maschio Angioino.
Steve McCurry: master of photography
Steve McCurry is one of the most famous photographers in the world. Some of his works have entered history as the portrait of the Afghan girl, named by National Geographic as the most recognized photograph ever. Photography that has become the symbol of a people fleeing pain and war.
War that has always been at the center of McCurry's photography. His first published works were in fact made during the conflict in Afghanistan between the seventies and eighties. Particular and significant is the episode that sees him crossing the Afghan border with the rolls sewn between his clothes to avoid clashes with the rebels.
This gesture managed to show the whole world that war for the first time, allowing McCurry to win the Robert Capa Gold Medal for Best Photographic Reporting from Abroa. An award given to photographers who have distinguished themselves for the courage shown in their endeavors.
The exhibitions of the Palazzo delle Arti in Naples
Inaugurated in 2005, the PAN has quickly become a reference point for culture in Naples. There have been exhibitions dedicated to artists such as Andy Warhol, Henri Cartier-Bresson or the International Rock Show. The latter has been staged at the PAN for several years now, recording ever-increasing numbers in terms of visits.
And now, starting from the end of this month, Steve McCurry joins that lineup of stage artists in Naples.
