Il 4st May is globally known as the "Star Wars Day". Why this date? Simple. In English, the date is pronounced like this: May the fourth. The pronunciation recalls the famous phrase: "May the force (be with you)".
A saga that made the history of modern cinema, the one created by George Lucas. Today it is in the hands of Disney and, despite the many controversies, fans have the opportunity to appreciate a large number of productions between the big and small screen. Just think of the JJ Abrams trilogy and series like “The Mandalorian”.

Many different locations exploited around the world, which led to the production also in Italy. Here's where to find some places particularly dear to fans around our local regions. Over the years the saga has exploited more and more advanced technologies, starting to shoot more in studios, rather than in real locations. It cannot be excluded, however, that in the future the Bel Paese may return to show its glimpses in films or series related to the franchise.

Lake Como

Attack of the Clones, belonging to the much-despised prequel trilogy, sees the marriage between Anakin and Padme. The set chosen for the scene was the magnificent Lake Como. Specifically, the cast and crew used the splendid one as an exceptional location Balbianello villa.
Great elegance and dream gardens, modified enough to recreate the planet Naboo. George Lucas took advantage of this area as much as possible. The two actors are in fact engaged in a romantic picnic, set in an area between Tramezzo and Griante, south of Lake Como. An evocative area, one of the best known in Italy

In "The Phantom Menace" she is shown during the conversation between Darth Sidious and the Neimoidans. "Attack of the Clones" instead makes greater use of it, recreating the Palace of Padmé Amidala on its home planet.

Etna

Still ample space in Southern Italy. The film in question, this time, is "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith". The scene in question is probably the most important of George Lucas' prequel trilogy.
The famous director has opted for theEtna, in Sicily. Looking at the plot of the film, the planet in question is Mustafar. This is where the final showdown between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anain Skywalker takes place.
Master and student face to face in a duel to the death after the betrayal of the now ex padawan, who passed to the dark side of the Force. During the lightsaber battle the spectacular eruptions of the volcano alternate Sicilian in the background.
Obviously, the shots were not carried out inside the volcano, but the director has exploited and adapted the real scenes of the erupting Etna, in order to give the whole a certain realism. A real Italian pride, considering how this confrontation is crucial within the plot of "Star Wars" and iconic for all fans in the world.
