The Spring Fai Days are back on 25 and 26 March next. This is the most important event dedicated to the cultural and landscape heritage of our country with the exceptional opening of over 750 inaccessible or little-known places. The 31st edition of the Spring Days conceived by the Italian Environment Fund offers the opportunity to discover and rediscover treasures of history, art and nature throughout Italy. The Fai Spring 2023 Days have received the plaque of the President of the Republic and are held under the patronage of the European Commission, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (Department of Civil protection), of the Ministry of Culture and of all the Italian Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
Fai days of spring
This important event is now the symbol of a collective vocation that animates Italy: that is, the care and enhancement of the great cultural heritage of the BelpaesAnd. This event, now known and consolidated, is capable of involving hundreds of thousands of citizens every year in the discovery of their territories. An initiative that is due to the commitment and creativity of thousands of Fai volunteers, supported by as many students from Italian schools (the apprentice guides) trained for the occasion. The event is also based on the participation of hundreds of institutions, associations, public and private entities, which in increasing numbers, year after year, collaborate, making places, resources and skills available. This, as everyone recognizes in it a unique and unmissable opportunity for promotion and relaunch. A good deed for "the most beautiful country in the world", which benefits everyone.
Thanks to the Fai Days, unknown and abandoned places have returned to public attention, and this has sometimes changed their destiny. And, again, places closed to the public, traditionally not considered cultural assets, have instead discovered that they have a cultural value to be promoted and above all shared. This broad and transversal participation, guided by a civil feeling of pride, belonging and responsibility, makes the Fai Spring Days a success. Equally wide and transversal is the range of places and stories to discover or explore, hidden and unpublished, curious and surprising, original and fascinating, perhaps right around the house. Villas, churches, historic buildings, castles, museums and archaeological areas, industrial archeology buildings, art collections, libraries. Civil and military buildings, workplaces and artisan workshops, and then parks, naturalistic areas, gardens and villages.
An initiative that unites Italy
ithe Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano. “The Fai Days are an initiative that unites Italy, an essential path of knowledge and awareness. To save our heritage, we must love it and, first of all, know it. Thanks to the work of thousands of volunteers, often inaccessible places will be open and can be visited. It is a precious opportunity to rediscover the original character of our national identity and to give way to unleash an irrepressible desire for Italy that comes from abroad. We are working on dozens of enhancement interventions with the Pnrr and other appropriations by unlocking firm and unused resources ".
