San Vito Lo Capo presents Sicily Environment, an international festival of documentaries, shorts, animations and fiction films related to environmental, sustainability and human rights issues. Promoted by the Sicilian Municipality, by Demetra Productions and by 'Cantiere 7 cultural association was born in 2009.

Every year the collaboration with many international, national and regional realities that operate in the audiovisual sector increases, and with just as many that deal with sustainable development and human rights. Among the prizes, in fact, is that Amnesty Italy for the "best human rights documentary and the prize Greenpeace Italy for the "best environmental documentary. All SiciliAmbiente awards are also funded by Harp Sicilia which, next autumn, will bring the festival to schools. For years Sicily Ambiente has received important awards in the field of sustainability.
Multiple times winner of Cultura in Verde award of the Compraverde/Buygreen Forum given to the best “green” cultural initiative in Italy. The creators of the festival underline: “We aim to build a relationship with our partners that avoids the dynamics of sponsorship and which, instead, aims to promote a series of activities capable of involving the citizens and tourists of San Vito lo Capo. It is with this spirit that every day, in the late afternoon and with the help of our partners, we promote reading through book presentations, accompanied by an aperitif based onorganic and Km-0 foods.
An ever growing event
Always in the afternoon, during the days of the Festival, we guarantee a wide choice of excursions, workshops for children and teenagers and photographic exhibitions. It is also thanks to our partners, since the first editions, that the Sicily Environment has garnered much acclaim. Since then the Festival has never stopped growing, multiplying the sections of the film competition, the collateral events and encouraging the participation of guests and the public. The location certainly has its weight: San Vito Lo Capo, with its sea and its wonderful sunsets, is a perfect setting. Starting from the cinema, the aim is to be an essential point of reference for the realities that believe in our same principles. We want to try to help create a network that increases the contribution of the audiovisual as an artistic expression. And also as a means of cultural growth, under the banner of sustainability and human rights. We want our festival to contribute to the diffusion of a "culture of sustainability".
When culture is development and social protection
Culture, therefore, based on a perspective of lasting development from which all the populations of the planet, present and future, can benefit. Culture in which protections of a social nature, such as the fight against poverty, human rights, health, are integrated with the need to conserve natural resources and ecosystems, in an ideal of mutual support.
