An unexpected fishing in the waters of Torre Guaceto, Puglia, where a young specimen of basking shark got entangled in fishing nets.
Fortunately, the two fishermen were working little outside a 'protected sea area, and as soon as the situation arose, they warned the "neighbors" for help. After a while, they managed to free the shark that swam away.
The basking shark
With an average of 10 meters, which sometimes even reach 12, the basking shark is considered the second fish largest in the world (after the whale shark). But, despite the measures, and the mouth that could easily swallow a person, it is a harmless species for humans. Unfortunately, the opposite cannot be said, considering that it too, like many sharks, is one threatened species.
So a pleasant encounter that fortunately had no negative consequences for the fishermen or for the shark!
