National Days of Castles, what to see

It is the 22esima edition of this extraordinary event, which involves Italy in its entirety, from north to south. For two days these fortresses come back to life thanks to numerous events. The 25 and 26 September will be important dates, because they will mark the restart of the National Days of the Castles after the forced break last year, for obvious safety reasons.

This year they were selected 19 main sites, one for each region participating in the event. The program is also enriched with itineraries and collateral initiatives, which involve other places in the area. Just think of Campania, where the main area identified is that of the encircled village of Taurasi. However, you will have the opportunity to take part in numerous events throughout the region. You can visit the castles of Agropoli, Circello, Teano and all the magnificent strongholds of Napoli, starting from Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) and Castel dell'Ovo.

The same goes for Lombardy, just to provide an example in the south and one in the north. The great protagonists of the two days will be the Pavia Castle and the Scaligero Castle of Sirmione, an extraordinary work on Lake Garda.
