Yellow lovers, strike a shot, because since 29 November to 7 December makes Mesthriller, festival dedicated to Noir, Thriller and Yellow. Thanks to the Cultural Sector of the Center of Venice, between Candiani Cultural Center, Vez Civic Library e Ubik library, will land famous authors of the national scene.
He thinks about opening the event Walter Veltroni, with his "Murder in Villa Borghese". S.It marks his personal debut in the thriller genre and is also an open love letter to the capital and to one of its most significant parks. But he will not be alone, in the 10 days of the event. There will be national actors and journalists of the caliber of Aldo Cazzullo e Fabrizio Roncone. Vanessa Scalera di "Imma Tataranni", will tell about his character, pm Tataranni, together with the author of the books that allowed the realization of the fiction, Mariolina Venice. It's still, Donato Carrisi, who will talk about his work as a director, until the closing of the doors with John Floris protagonist.
Birth of the Festival
Mesthriller was born from aidea of the editorial staff of the blog Piego di Libri. It sees the light in 2016, thanks to Christine Cama and can already boast three successful editions to his credit. The event continues with the ambitious goal of enhancing the cultural and literary heritage of the area through a varied form of entertainment, capable of attracting young people and adults from the metropolitan area and beyond.
The program, November 29-30
The day after Veltroni's presentation, it will be the turn of Josephine Torregrossa. The writer from Palermo opens on Saturday 30 November with The black pudding of the Immaculate Conception, in its second chapter. It is the story of Commissioner Marò Pajno, in charge of the antifeminicide unit, grappling with an investigation. It will make it clear how one woman's battle can only be waged in the name of all the others. The afternoon is dedicated to the new book by Gianluigi Nuzzi, Judgement, an exploration into the secrets of the sacred Vatican palaces, with unpublished documents. Alongside the meetings with the authors, the inauguration of the exhibition of the Mondadori Gialli, Il giallo fa 90, hosted by the Candiani Cultural Center.
The program, December 1-7
Sunday 1 will be colored pink, for a day dedicated to women. The morning, Christina Cassar Scalia revives Deputy Chief Vanina Guarrasi with The logic of lampara, sequel to the revelation Black sand. From page to screen, a two-person meeting with the aforementioned Vanessa Scalera and Mariolina Venezia. Last appointment of the day is a triage with Alice Low, Barbara Baraldi e Paula Barbato, respectively authors of The latest case of the ghostwriter, Aurora's last night e zoo. A trio of multifaceted writers and at ease with the noir format, from the novel, to the screenplay, to the comic.
On the 2nd it will be the turn of Francesco Recami, with The truth about Amedeo Consonni. Sunday 3th of Gabriella Genesis will talk about Bitter pinch, a journey in the Salento of superstitions and taranta. On Monday 4 there will be a self-defense course for women. Then full-immersion "The Dance of the Gorilla" di sandrone dazieri, a reflection of a bitter world, covered with dreamy and glittering promises, but mired in a sad reality.
The 5th is the day of the teacher. Donato Carrisi, genius of thriller national. A few weeks after the theatrical release of The man in the maze, go back to the library with The house of voices. The duo Cazzullo-Roncone is on stage on the 6th. Finally, on the 7th Giovanni Floris presents at the Candiani Cultural Center The invisible, psychological thriller between identity and fake news. Here, journalist and writer find the ideal agreement for a novel that thoroughly investigates a highly topical issue: the abuse of social media and digital reputation.
The news of Mesthriller
In this edition Mesthriller will be told live by Radio Ca 'Foscari. Furthermore, the anniversary of the "yellow" is celebrated in the exhibition halls of the Candiani cultural center with Il Giallo fa '90. It will be the first Italian exhibition dedicated to the history of the Mondadori mystery 90 years after the release of the first four titles in the Libri Gialli series. On display are originals, reproductions, explanatory panels, blow-ups and projections from the Mondadori Foundation, the Istituto Luce and private collections.
Thriller in the cinema
After the recent international festival of the movies of Venice, which consecrated Joker, there will be room for the seventh art also in Mesthriller. This is thanks to a video competition that will award international fiction and animation shorts that have suspense in all its genre meanings as their theme. The aim, of course, is to promote the thriller and noir culture in the cinematic field.
Mesthriller Kids
Nobody is left behind, not even the little ones. Mesthriller Kids it is designed just for them. Shows, animated readings and workshops will involve them, turning them into detectives for a day. Thanks to Goose bumps….!, a workshop with the design of an ex libris through the engraving technique of woodcut and the use of black ink, it will be possible to lay the foundations to work on the noir theme. Mesthriller, therefore, leaves no room for excuses of any kind. Through a large, fun and educational stage, it allows young, old, passionate and curious people to approach a fantastic cultural experience. Listening to the words of great authors, consulting pieces of Noir history, allowing children to learn by playing. The menu is served. Now it's your turn.
