A really important announcement from Maserati. The historic car manufacturer is ready to officially return to the racing world. Fans will have to be patient until 2023, when it will be back on track in ABB FIA Formula E World Championship: “We are really proud to be protagonists in the racing world again. This is the environment we belong to ”. These words Davide Grease, CEO of the company.

Maserati is back on track

Maserati is working on a new electric single-seater to take part in the world championship Formula E in 2023. This will therefore be a year of hard work to get to the track to the best of one's strength. The debut on the grid will take place in season 9 of the competition. The Gen3 will feature design, technological and manufacturing innovations. It promises to be like “The most effective racing car in the world”. A lack greatly felt, if you consider that the last single-seater on the track was that of Maria Teresa De Filippis, the first woman to qualify for a GP of Formula 1 aboard the 250F. It was 1958.

Let's discover the Gen3

How does the Gen3 car change? It is normal to ask this question and Maserati tries to give an answer, albeit partial, considering the work in progress. Unlike the current ones, this one will boast two electric motors. One front of 250 kW, only used for regenerative braking. One instead rear of 350 kW. By combining them, it will be possible to achieve energy recovery up to 600 kW.

Key experiments in general for the evolution of the electric mobility sector. This beauty can be admired on all Formula E tracks, even in Italy. Here's where:

  • Monaco
  • Berlin
