Today it is one of those giorni that Mina fans shouldn't forget! The new album by Mina has arrived: Pigeons, produced by the son of the Tiger of Cremona Massimiliano Pani. Mina really needs no introduction: she is one of the great Italian female voices, who has enchanted many generations with her interpretations and who still exercises that unattainable diva charm today.
Maeba, an alien disk
Even before listening to it, the first thing that strikes you about a record is the artwork. In Maeba Mina is presented in an alien version, with a milk-colored tan, as someone has already seen in the teaser of the Sanremo Festival. Not an apparition in flesh and blood, but a hologram. An alien with an elongated skull, a gimmick that did not impress everyone pleasantly. Mina's charm also lies in this continuous denial with her audience since the time of the legendary show “Bussoladomani 78 ″.
Dove or princess?
Maeba in Sesotho, a South African language, means dove. While in Polynesian culture she is a princess whose love for a fisherman is hindered by her father. What everyone is sure is that Maeba is the 74th album in the studio. And he comes out two days before his 78th birthday. 10 unreleased tracks and two covers. The album features important collaborations, such as those with Paolo Conte, Boosta, Franco Serafini, Andrea Mingardi and posthumously with Paul Limits e Giorgio Calabrese. The two covers are a version of Wham's Last Christmas and Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel. Mina's voice is what we feel the need: bewitching, warm and refined, able to accompany us on journeys and visions.
I've wanted to write to you for a long time
Maybe some of you listened on the radio I've wanted to write to you for a long time anticipated for a few weeks already. It reads on place by Mina: It is one of those melodic ballads that strike at first listen for the emotion they arouse and the atmosphere they can create: one of those songs that need a great interpreter to express themselves in all their fullness.. A text that is a letter dedicated to someone who may not have the opportunity to read it. Words that perhaps will never reach our interlocutor, but that will allow us to make peace with ourselves. And if you too are having too long nights, this is the music for you.
