They have been taking place in Rome since 14 September and up to 21 pv the Internazionali BNL d'Italia. The most important Italian tennis tournament, now in its own 77a edition.
Internazionali d'Italia, the ghota of tennis in Rome
With the covid-19 pandemic it was thought that for this year the great event of the Tennis International BNL of Italy it would not be celebrated. Fortunately this was not the case. AND for a week Rome and the Foro Italico returned to the center of the world tennis ghota, doing it in style. Until 21 September, in fact, it is possible to attend the matches between the greatest tennis players in the world.
The tennis internationals are in fact part of the most important men's and women's circuits in the tennis scene. The ATP World Tour Masters 1000 , WTA Premier Five, which group together the most prestigious and exciting tournaments. The Internationals, together with Roland Garros and the Monte Carlo tournament, also make up the Red Slam. That is, matches that take place on clay and not on synthetic ground or grass. So the most classic and traditional surface par excellence. A special edition this but, pure always exciting.
Great tennis athletes
The participants in the “seeded” tournament were chosen taking into account the ranking, ie the positions, of the players, before last March 16, when everything was suspended due to the pandemic. For men we find among others Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, for Italy Matteo Berrettini which is eighth in the ranking and Fabio Fognini, twelfth. For the women's tournament athletes of the caliber of Simona Halep, Sofia Kenin, Karolína Plíšková.
Entertainment guaranteed, in both cases. Unfortunately, the great feast of the Foro Italico, with the fields crowded with spectators, this year could not be realized. To remedy this, however, there are live television, which somehow try to fill the void of physical presence on the pitch. Even if nothing can replace, the beauty of being able to witness the endless challenges of the greatest tennis players in the world, as it happens for other sports.
Semifinals and finals with international audience
It is news of the last hours, the announcement of the minister of sport Spadafora, said: "Finally, already starting from the semifinals and finals of the International Tennis Championships, a thousand spectators will be able to attend all the sporting competitions that will be held outdoors and that will scrupulously respect the rules provided for spacing, masks and seat reservations". A thousand spectators, therefore, will be able to attend the matches on Sunday and Monday. This in derogation of what the Technical Scientific Committee had established, for sports competitions, which had to be carried out exclusively behind closed doors.
From Friday 18 September there will be a selection among those who had purchased a ticket for the races open to the public. The first two thousand lucky ones who book, will have the opportunity to attend the finals and semifinals, both men and women. A partial opening that bodes well and that, perhaps, will lead to spectators also for the other sporting events that will take place in Italy and outdoors.
