According to the data provided by Gimbe Foundation, in Italy in the last month hospitalizations for Covid patients have been reduced by half. Consequently, the pressure on hospitals has eased further. In fact, in 35 days, hospitalizations relating to positive patients decreased by 49,1 percent and those in intensive care by 45,1 percent. There Gimbe Foundation, in its monitoring, it notes that in the week from 5 to 11 May the number of hospitalized patients with symptoms decreased by 3.239, or 17,8 percent. While ICU admissions fell by 371, or 5,1 percent.
And even if the hospitalizations of Covid patients are fortunately decreasing, the trend of the contagion curve is always under close observation. In the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has made it known that they have registered in Italy 8.085 new positive cases (yesterday 7.852). The new deaths are 201 (yesterday 262). The discharged healed today are 14.295 (yesterday 19.023); altogether the positive cases are 346.008, 6.414 cheaper than yesterday. In the intensive care units they are hospitalized currently 1893 Covid patients (2.158 yesterday), while in home isolation they still remain 330.507 people infected with the virus. The molecular and antigenic swabs carried out in the last 24 hours are 287.026.
Covid hospitalizations halved in one month
Meanwhile, while hospitalizations are significantly decreasing, the Commissioner for the emergency, Francesco Figliuolo, has sent a communication to the Regions to give the green light to bookings also for the over 40s. Reservations will start from Saturday 17 May. Something is also moving in the context of a new tourism policy that tries to get back on the road despite the pandemic. From the agreement for vacationers or the possibility of vaccinating those who go on vacation to another region, al vaccination tourism'which includes a two-dose packet of anti-Covid serum with a hotel stay.
These are the new proposals of the Regions in the context of the provisions of the national vaccination campaign. In addition to proceeding with vaccinations based on age groups, solutions are therefore envisaged to enlarge the audience of vaccinated people. An emblematic case is that of San Marino which, with the vaccine tourism initiative, tries to reconcile the resumption of tourism with immunization.
