Messy, always in a hurry and with limited money, but also courageous, reckless and with great willpower. The off-site student is the first example of "migrant" Italian. And there is no shortage of commonplaces about these fearless young people grappling with the problems of everyday life.

1 - The baggage of the preserves

For us Italians, food is religion. But if we are all good at eating, few are able to cook a decent meal for themselves. This is how the return home during the holidays also becomes a sort of refueling pit stop. From grandma's jars of jam to uncle Peppe's aged cheese, passing through a tray of lasagna. Just for a bite to eat during the trip.

2 - The phone call with parents

There is no worse thing for a mother to see a child leave home. And there is no worse thing for a child linked to his family to break away from it. Here, as punctual as the 20pm news, is the parents' evening phone call. And the questions always focus on one topic: food. “Did you have lunch?”, “What did you eat tonight?”, “Did you finish the lasagna?”. Because, as mentioned earlier, eating is considered a sacred activity.

3 - The parties

One of the best things for a student is to find himself sharing an apartment with other peers. Being able to deal with the many difficulties with other kids in the same situation as us is of great help. But above all it is much easier to organize a party! The off-site student apartment is a kind of leisure center that operates 22 hours a day. From marathons on Netflix to the burp competition, alternating with some local cooking sessions.

4 - The discounter of the discounters

One of the most challenging activities for an off-site student is shopping. Limited economic resources combined with poor preparation in the search for food are a lethal mix. The young student shoots all the discount stores in the city in a few weeks. Found the one with the best value price = premature deaths, the off-site student transforms it into a second home.

 5 - The off-site student's pajamas

There is a time when the off-site student finds himself doing an unusual thing: studying. And he does it in his pajamas. Warm, comfortable and practical. A second skin. We will also not be judged for any Disney or soccer team fantasies. It's a pajama!

6 - The Cleaning Odyssey

The squabbles due over who has to clean what make Iran's foreign policy a child's play. Off-site students spend more time arguing than keeping order. It doesn't matter if that dish stays in the sink for a month.

7 - Utilities

Many student apartments include utilities in the monthly rent. Others, on the other hand, count them separately. This is how the phase begins energy saving. Thanks to a more empty wallet than anything else, off-site students use water, electricity and gas with the dropper. Then comes the roommate who turns on the heating in April and many greetings to the economy.
