For several decades, the search for new technologies to be applied in the field of engines has been increasingly active. Fossil fuels have highlighted too many problems (pollution, availability, etc.) and alternatives are slowly gaining ground. Land that also speaks a little Italian thanks to the HIZEV, the electric supercar made in Italy.

HIZEV: outstanding performance

Over 300 km per hour, from zero to one hundred in less than 4 seconds. They look like the characteristics of a Ferrari or Lamborghini racing car, instead it is the HIZEV, an electric supercar.
Designed for car racing, HIZEV is an innovative and non-polluting little jewel. Its energy storage and release system allows it a range of approximately 200 kilometers at maximum performance. Nothing to envy to the classic petrol engines that require more refueling during a race.
With a sporty and aerodynamic design, the HIZEV is also beautiful to look at. A gritty appearance and lines reminiscent of the most common supercars, but with a zero-emission engine.
The car was presented during the H2R, the Sustainable Mobility Show, held in Rimini last November. And soon, according to the engineers, it will be possible to admire it directly on the track in some official races.

Unity is strength

But who made HIZEV? It is a group of small and medium-sized enterprises headed by Picchio Spa. The Abruzzo-based company, founded in 1996, has been at the top of the automotive scene for years. Its cars are considered real jewels appreciated by all experts in the sector. But in addition to Picchio Spa, behind HIZEV there is another great Italian company. The battery and the storage system were in fact built by ENEA, the public body for energy research. And just a few weeks ago we told you about MONICA, the first portable smog-tracker, built in the ENEA laboratories in Portici (NA).
Italian research is therefore very active, despite the economic difficulties of the period. And who knows if HIZEV does not represent the beginning of a new era in automotive terms.
