Covid, the pandemic continues to record the increase in positive cases while the Italian drug agency gives the green light to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Meanwhile the Ministry of Health lets know that I am 26.062 the new positive cases ascertained in our country in the last 24 hours. Yesterday there were 26.824; the new deaths are 317 (yesterday 380). The total cases since the beginning of the epidemic are 3.201.838, the victims 101.881.
The currently positives are 520.061 (10.744 more than yesterday), the discharged healed 14.970 (yesterday 14.443). In intensive care they are hospitalized 2.982 patients; home isolation remain 492.926 people infected with the virus. In the last 24 hours they have been carried out 372.944 molecular and antigenic buffers. Yesterday the tests were 369.636. The positivity rate (positive / test ratio) today is 6,98 percent (yesterday 7,2%).
Green light to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
Green light ofItalian drug agency (Aifa) to the Johnson & Johnson anti-Covid vaccine. The AIFA therefore authorizes the marketing and use of the serum within the National Health Service. Yesterday the J&J vaccine also obtained approval from the European Medicines Agency Ema. This is the fourth anti-Covid vaccine approved in Italy after those of Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna and Astrazeneca.
The WHO (World Health Organization) has also approved the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for emergency use. This step, as it had already happened in the case of other vaccines, opens the way for the distribution of hundreds of millions of doses to countries that do not have regulatory bodies. The emergency authorization procedure helps countries that do not have the means to determine the efficacy and safety of a drug on their own. It is an important aid in having faster access to therapies and allows the device covax, set up to ensure equal access to the vaccine, to begin distribution. The WHO, in these terms, had already authorized the Pfizer and Astrazeneca vaccines.
