The day of the Befana, Saturday January 6th at 16.15pm, the Apulian derby Foggia-Taranto will be played. The match, valid for the 20th round of Serie C, will, however, be played behind closed doors. The Prefect decided it a little while ago. The decision to have the match played behind closed doors arises from public safety reasons.

Foggia's press release

Foggia, who criticized the choice, doesn't agree. here is the communique.

“Calcio Foggia 1920 communicates, in compliance with ordinance no. 0089410 of the Prefect of Foggia notified today (30 December), that the Foggia-Taranto race scheduled for Saturday 06 January 2024, will be played in the absence of spectators for reasons of public order and safety as indicated by the Police Commissioner of Foggia. The Rossoneri club, which has always accepted the decisions of the public administration with respect and rigor, this time firmly expresses its disappointment at the device issued and declares that this provision not only does not find us in agreement with the reasons (such as example "the team's delicate technical moment at a sporting level") but penalizes us again and, above all, affects our season ticket holder fans who are denied, for the umpteenth time, the right to access the Zaccheria, without having a direct fault, punishing an entire community.”
