A card for about one and a half million families is on the way against the high cost. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida.
Card against expensive spending
“The card against the high cost of living feed it is a rule provided for in the stability law. We have opened, so to speak, negotiations with employers' organizations and large-scale retailers to obtain the possibility of adding an investment in terms of further discounts of up to 15 percent. With regard to income, it will have a ceiling of 15 thousand euros and this should lead, from the calculations made by INPS together with Anci, to an evaluation of about one million e 400 thousand cards that will contain 382 euros made available to families who find it difficult to purchase with a series of exclusions among those who already benefit from other forms of support”. Minister Lollobrigida has always specified this.
When asked whether, for example, those who enjoy basic income or inclusion income will be excluded from the new card, the minister replied: “The details are provided for in the legislation. In these hours INPS is doing the calculations to make the best use of the economic capacity of the measure. We have to help support the shopping cart. So already in the second half of July - said Lollobrigida - almost one and a half million Italian families will receive a card that will allow them to have a contribution to reduce costs and expenses related to the food growth of primary goods".
A concrete help for those who live in hardship
This intervention “is in addition to another fund which this year will invest 110 million for the purchase of foodstuffs. Goods that will instead be distributed to those poor who do not emerge through the exceptional work of third sector operators. And of the many volunteers who in Italy help and support those who are unable to go ahead given the increase in costs”. Lollobrigida also specified that the cards “will be distributed in post offices and to the families who receive the letter. It is a calculation that INPS is making on the basis of the 500 million allocated, which are divided together between Inps and Anci.
The latter is the national representative association of the municipalities which allows intervention on a parterre of about 1 million families”. “This will make it possible to have not only the 4 million, but also very important discounts within all the commercial activities that will join the project. For example, after an important negotiation, we convinced large-scale retailers to undertake a large-scale solidarity intervention. An action that will see the 15 percent off on primary products, plus these discounts will be added to those already existing within the chains themselves”.
