In recent years you have certainly noticed a real boom in the so-called e-cig, namely electronic cigarettes. These are devices that have managed to be replaced by traditional cigarettes by many people, but on which many people still do not have so clear ideas. What is the electronic cigarette
There are different models of e-cig, which are basically based on the same operating principle. It is a device that was born as a real alternative to the traditional cigarette, to tobacco smoke: the latter, as is known, is obtained by burning the tobacco itself. In the electronic cigarette, however, we have a system that produces an aerosol which contains a certain amount of nicotine. This comes vaporized with water and other substances, such as glycerol. In fact, the latter serve to aromatize the flavor and make it pleasant. On average, the cartridges contain from 6 to 25 milligrams of nicotine, it must be said, however, that some models also use cartridges without nicotine.
As for the structure of the device, this is not that complicated. Simply, the liquid reaches a device called an atomizer, which vaporizes the solution and then allows inhalation. Compared to the traditional cigarette, as can already be seen, there is no combustion: there is no formation of tar and other residues which are now known as toxic. In fact, the atomizer is an electric resistance which heats up thanks to the battery and which is in contact with a wet pad of the liquid to be vaporized.
Why do many people switch to e-cig?
But basically why do many people switch to e-cig? The reasons are manifold. In principle, it can be said that smokers or former smokers switch to the electronic cigarette to search to quit traditional smoking. Often, in fact, they begin to use devices very similar in shape and size to traditional cigarettes. This allows you not to have a too "traumatic" detachment from a gesture that has perhaps been repeated for years. Moreover, there has also been a return to the sensitivity of taste, which is one of the classic side effects encountered by those who smoke traditional cigarettes.
Indeed, the data that compare the substantial effects of the use of the e-cig and those of the use of the traditional cigarette are certainly encouraging. Broadly speaking, experts argue that it can be a very useful tool in quitting smoking, trying to fight addiction to nicotine, although, of course, it does not solve the problem. What is certain is that the amount of toxic substances that is assimilated is incomparably lower than in the traditional cigarette.
On the other hand, the data speak quite clearly. Every year they die over 40 thousand people for lung cancer, closely related to the use of cigarettes and therefore the combustion of tobacco.
