Until Sunday 10 September, Diamante (Cosenza) hosts the famous Peperoncino Festival, now in its 31st edition. The event, which attracts tourists from all over the world, is dedicated to this spice so renowned for its spiciness and the many beneficial properties it has on health. During the five days of celebration there will be various appointments related to taste but also to entertainment, culture, medicine, humor and much more. Also in this edition there will be the historic final of “Italian Chili Pepper Eating Championship”.
Cultural exchange opportunities
One of the main events of the Diamante Peperoncino Festival is the Italian Chili Pepper Eating Championship. In this competition, divided into several categories, the participants challenge each other to eat as many chili peppers as possible in a limited time. The festival is also a great opportunity to meet and exchange for lovers of this delicious spice. There are various activities designed to entertain the whole family: games, live music, exhibitions, conferences. From the food stands present, you can also taste local specialties prepared with chilli, such as 'nduja Calabrian or deviled pasta.
“Spicy Laughter”, the 18th Graphic Humor Festival
The Peperoncino Festival also includes 18th Graphic Humor Festival, organized by Julius Lubetkin, with the patronage of the Italian Chili Pepper Academy. It hosts “Spicy Laughter”, an exhibition of fun humorous drawings by the best Italian and foreign authors, inspired by this spice. 42 exhibitors, coming from 18 countries.
Between these: Mojmir Jezek, Lido Contemori, Marco De Angelis, Lucio Trojano (author of the poster), Luca Bertolotti, Marilena Nardi, Omar Turcios, Valeri Momot, Mauro Talarico, Lele Corvi, Passepartout, Igor Vartchenko, Andrea Pecchia, Victor Solis, Milko Dalla Battista, Istvan Kelemen, Murat Ahmeti, Farzane Vaziritabar, Davide Ceccon. The goal is to get a hearty laugh from those present. The Diamante Chilli Festival is good for your health and mood, two valid reasons that make it an unmissable event.
