In Italy, the contagion curve is slowly decreasing and no region is at high risk. In fact, there is a general improvement in our country regarding the Covid pandemic, with no high-risk regions for the second consecutive week. This is attested by the data of the usual weekly ISS-Ministry of Health monitoring presented today. Six regions and autonomous provinces have a moderate risk classification, one of which, Calabria, has a high probability of progression to high risk in the coming weeks. The other 15 regions and provinces have a low risk classification.

high risk region

A region (Molise) and an autonomous province (Bolzano) have a point Rt greater than one, but with the lower limit below one. As for the numerical data relating to the infections, according to ministerial sources, they were registered in the last 24 hours 10.554 new positive cases (yesterday 11.807). The new deaths are 207 (yesterday 258). 2253 Covid patients are hospitalized in intensive care units while in home isolation there are still 378.890 infected people from the virus. The carried out molecular and antigenic buffers are 328.612 (yesterday 324.640). The discharged healed today are 15.580 (yesterday 15.867); altogether the positive cases are 397.564, 5.238 cheaper than yesterday.

Covid, no high-risk regions

"As for the spread of infections, the average age drops to 41 years while the average age of hospitalizations drops to 65 years. However, cases mark an increase among the youngest, between 0 and 9 years. The cases among the over-80s decrease more rapidly than the other groups and this is an effect of vaccinations". This was stated by the president of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Silvio Brusaferro. “There are positive signs for the reduction of hospitalizations in ICU and medical areas; the number of cases for which tracing is possible rises from 24 thousand to over 27 thousand.

high-risk region therapy

We are approaching the value of 50 cases per 100 thousand which is precisely the threshold value to make tracing possible. We are now beginning to see the effects of a decline also with respect to mortality but the curve - underlined Brusaferro - is still in its initial phase ”. “There is a trend towards an improvement in the epidemiological situation at the moment and for the first time we have both the employment of intensive care units and hospital wards below the critical threshold. There is therefore a decongestion - asserts the president of the Higher Institute of Health - but the situation always requires the utmost caution. This is due to the restrictions adopted and the vaccination campaign ".

Curfew, it could end very soon

"May 16? I think it is a desirable date to overcome the curfew, but obviously it will not be a free all. We've been there other times ". This was stated by the Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio, speaking in a television broadcast. “We all want to get out of this nightmare. The theme is to overcome the curfew in order not to return after a few months - he added - It is not only valid for Italy, these are important hours. Now we have to face the summer and allow the tourists vaccinated to come to Italy ".
