The Council of Ministers approved the decree that introduces tougher sanctions for those who violate the anti-contagion rules Covid-19.
Health emergency: drastic measures to enforce the rules
The penalty for violating government regulations rises from 400 to 3000 euros. The reiterated Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte during a press conference at Palazzo Chigi. The president of the Council of Ministers answered the questions of the journalists connected by video conference. "We have approved the adoption of a decree law that reorganizes the discipline also of the measures we are adopting in this emergency phase".
Thus Conte who remarked: "With this decree-law we have regulated the relations between the activities of the government and Parliament more precisely and in a more transparent way. We expect that every initiative will be transmitted to the presidents of the chambers and that I go to report every 15 days on the evolution of the emergency ".
Will the state of health emergency be extended until July 31st?
On the increasingly insistent rumors of an extension of the emergency until next July 31, the premier expressed himself as follows: "No extension of the emergency to 31 July. It is only a theoretical space, but I am confident that it will end sooner ”.

Emergency management works
“It is not possible to have the exact number of those infected. I am not a scientist, a virologist, an epidemiologist - said Conte - We have married the indications of the experts who have explained to us how to act. There is currently no reason to change our way of handling the emergency.
We did it and we continue to do it with the utmost rigor and transparency. We must protect the health of workers and we must supervise the activities deemed essential. This for the purpose of the operation of a state machine that is already marching with slowed engines ”.
Collaboration with local authorities
“From the first day - the premier pointed out - we have looked after relations with the mayors and presidents of the regions. We believe the path of collaboration is preferable, if this were not the case we would give a bad example. In addition, health is in the hands of the regions, so not cooperating would be really not very functional. We have to work with them.
This way of proceeding is giving results: we have converted 78 hospitals as Covid-hospitals. We brought the units of intensive therapy to 8370. The sub-intensive care units are over 25 thousand. We are experiencing a dramatic situation but we are reacting effectively ”.
