Cervinia, a beloved place and one of the best known by snow lovers, will no longer exist. The fraction of the Municipality of Valtournenche will be called from now on Le Breuil.
Cervinia changes name
The name born (and linked) in the fascist era is therefore cancelled. This was decided by the president of the Valle d'Aosta Region Renzo Testolin who canceled the name given in the fascist era (1934). The controversy came sooner than expected. Residents (around 700) will have to change their documents. Furthermore, the name Cervinia is now synonymous with a brand especially for snow enthusiasts: a return to the past could be harmful for tourism and advertising.
