A reorganization and rediscovery project of the immense repertoire of one of the best singers of Italian music. And we are convinced it will be snapped up. Because Mina, even away from the scene, continues to amaze. They have a rather significant name "Cassiopeia" and "Orione", are the first two anthologies of songs created, we could say, to bring order to the numerous constellations of songs of the tiger of Cremona. The larger project is called “Italian Songbook”. The anthologies, in digipack and double vinyl, are the first of a large recording project to catalog and rediscover the singer's repertoire.
Cassiopeia and Orione, the immense repertoire to savor
And there will certainly be many who will take advantage of this opportunity to listen to Mina's great successes but also some unreleased ones. Also because the two anthologies include pieces that, thanks to digitization, have been reworked and resonated. A truly unique result then. "In a world where records are no longer found- said Massimiliano Pani, son of Mina - we tried to make them available, with a higher quality ". And so Mina chose some songs without a specific criterion, but based on her personal taste and instinct. "Mina combined very successful songs - added Pani - with some pearls that have not had the right light. He has placed alongside pieces of great intensity and ironic pieces. Of course all pieces that she really likes because she has never done anything she didn't like".
The songs by Mina that we could listen to again in "Cassiopea" and "Orione"
Many songs already sung by Mina, but also new recordings and even two unreleased ones. The unpublished piece concludes the anthology "Cassiopeia" "A small time", written by Antonio Gaudino, Alberto Laurenti and Franco Califano. While the other unpublished that closes the anthology "Orione" is entitled "In the sky of bars" and it is a song written with Leo Chiosso and performed by Fred Buscaglione. Two unpublished works which, as Pani points out, are a clue "of what could happen in the continuation of this philological project of reorganization and rediscovery of the repertoire". A project by Mina that will also touch the songs recorded in the first years of her career and new songs.
A revision work followed by the artist herself
“Italian Songbook” was entirely followed by Mina. A concrete way of the great artist who still has so much to tell with her splendid voice. "All registrations - Pani clarified - have been digitally transferred, edited, restored, remastered and remixed with the continuous, constant and careful supervision of Mina, who personally followed the entire operation".
Two musical paths, therefore, Cassiopeia and Orione that will illuminate the constellations of Italian music. She who despite having disappeared from TV continues to sing and produce.
And above all to listen to lots of music. Italian and international. Innovative not only in music and in the choice of songs. Also in the style of the cover, created by Mauro Balletti and Gianni Ronco, with mirror images of Mina in blue and red. This musical milestone of the Cremona tiger closes this difficult year for the world of art, culture and music. A goal that for Mina coincides with 80 years made this year. And then we too are ready to pay homage to her.
