Carnival in Venice, the Serenissima is ready to give life to one of the shows that made it famous throughout the world. The 2023 edition of the Carnival has the zodiac and the four natural elements as its leitmotiv: water, air, earth and fire. Carnival in Venice, a unique show in the world
"Take your time for the original signs" is the theme chosen for the Venice Carnival 2023. An edition that was born under the sign of the Lion of San Marco and which will begin on February 4th with the “Original Dreamers” opening parade along the Grand Canal. The carnival festival, one of the most popular and attended on the planet, will end on February 21st with a mix of events for all ages. This year's Venetian Carnival is promoted by the municipal administration and is organized by Vela Spa; the artistic and scenic direction is entrusted to Massimo Cecchetto.
The program will have a single common denominator: that is to go fromorigin of originality. Expressing the unique and unrepeatable self that will be enlivened by music, shows, fun and magic in the Venetian fields and calli. And also in the islands, in the streets and squares of Mestre and the municipalities of the mainland. The Original Dreamers will stage all the traditional symbols of the Venice Carnival thanks to the presence of artists, colours, plays of light and music. A highly evocative route will be created which will unwind from the water area in front of the Santa Lucia railway station at the San Marco Basin.
Sunday February 5, in collaboration with the Coordination of Rowing Associations of Voga alla Veneta, about a hundred rowing boats will sail the Grand Canal. It will be a peaceful invasion of colours, decorations and masks: the water procession will leave from Punta della Dogana to arrive at Rialto. A captain will be a caorlina that will carry the “Pantegano” in papier-mâché, one of the symbols of the popular Venetian carnival, ready to explode in front of the Rialto bridge. In a flash of confetti and streamers will thus begin the celebrations of Carnival 2023.
