Appointment in the Garden is an initiative promoted by APGI-Association of Parks and Gardens of Italy with the support of Ales and the patronage of the Ministry of Culture. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness among visitors on the issues of the environment and sustainability.
Appointment in the Garden
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June, numerous will be opened in Italy gardens, parks and botanical gardens. This event concerns not only the Italian regions but will take place simultaneously in many European countries in collaboration with the initiative Meet at the gardens. Within the parks and gardens there will be cultural events and also training meetings on how to care for and restore the gardens.
This is an opportunity not to be missed because most gardens that will be open to the public are normally not. Some important ones will also participate in the initiative Unesco sites, such as Villa Adriana and Villa D'Este, the Royal Palace of Caserta and the Venaria Reale or the Boboli Gardens. And still private gardens including those of the Torrigiani Villas in Lucchesia, Tiepolo Passi in Veneto or the Rocca Meli Lupi in Soragna or the Pomona Botanical Conservatory in Salento, where you can admire the fruit-bearing trees, or in Favara Maredolce in Palermo, where we will talk about techniques and biodiversity of ancient Sicilian citrus cultivation. The Botanical Gardens of Rome, Naples, Bologna, Turin will also be open to the public and some Alpine botanical gardens will open their gates to welcome the numerous visitors.
Restorations, events, tastings and many news
They will come important restorations were presented to visitors, such as that of the plant heritage of the Horti Farnesiani or the Margherita Fountain in the Royal Palace of Caserta. There are not only interesting guided tours but also tastings, yoga lessons, botanical painting courses and musical entertainment.
A novelty of this fourth edition of Appointment in the Garden 2021 is the photographic initiative launched on Instagram. Is titled Return to Spring. Visitors are asked to construct, through photographs of the parks, botanical gardens and gardens, a story of the two days of immersion in the green. In order to participate it is necessary to use the hashtag #return to spring by tagging the gardens that have joined the initiative.
Nature flourishes again, launching a message of rebirth and parks and gardens become the places to start meeting and socializing again.
