With a spectacular shot, the Italian nature photographer Marco Gaiotti has earned a place among the 25 finalists of the prestigious international competition 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award', organized by the Natural History Museum of London, the most important recognition in the field of nature photography.

The evocative image captures a scene in which a gelada monkey feeds her baby, accompanied by another female sitting on the edge of a plateau.

Marco Gaiotti, an established photographer and associate professor of shipbuilding at the University of Genoa, immortalized this moment during the rainy season. The photograph portrays Ethiopian geladas, vervet primates known for their complex social organisation.

Gaiotti's work won over the international jury, which selected the finalists from almost 50.000 applications from 95 countries.

The public has the opportunity to vote online, expressing their preferences on the London museum's website until 31 January 2024. The winners, together with the top four classified images, will be announced in February.

Good luck to our compatriot Marco Gaiotti!
