Alice in Wonderland

Alice, protagonist of the famous novel, shows that she is far from aged in Elektra Nicotra's work which is a contemporary reinterpretation of Alice in which some of the key elements of the fairy tale are found: the Caterpillar, the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts. But also the hedge maze in which the girl gets lost and the mushroom in front of which the protagonist has to make an important choice. Even in the 9 digital collages created by the artist – each dedicated to a classic fairy tale and associated with a particular material, to explain the correct way to recycle it – Alice is grappling with an important choice to make.

This can cause enormous environmental damage, especially if we consider that the consumption of medicines in Italy amounts to 21 billion euros a year. One pill to get smaller, one pill to get bigger, Alice throughout her journey in Wonderland can change size if necessary. In Nicotra's work among animated gardens, chessboards, castles and woods where it is always tea time, there are bins for the disposal of pharmaceutical products and for Alice's pills, because a Wonderland is first of all a country clean!
