Before 9 July of the 2006 a Berlin, the sky was also blue over the stadium Bernabeu di Madrid. It was the 1982 and the national team led by Enzo Bearzot was awarded the world Cup, typing the West Germany for 3-1. 2022 will be the 40th anniversary of that magical summer, in which football Italy was on the highest peak in the world. For this reason, the city ofAlassio (Savona) who hosted the pre-retreat of the team, has decided to confer the honorary citizenship to the Azzurri of the Mundial '82. Certainly an excellent opportunity to remember one of the most beautiful pages in the history of Italian football. As mentioned by many protagonists of the time on several occasions, the preparation for Alassio and hotel pickup Puerta del Sol were key to addressing the World Cup of Spain and win the coveted cup.

Honorary citizenship to the Azzurri of Mundial 82: a ceremony in memory of Paolo Rossi
The retreat in Alassio left a good memory not only in the hearts of the Azzurri, but also of the Alassian citizens who lived through those days. Unfortunately not all champions will be able to attend the event. Paolo Rossi, one of the absolute protagonists of that world championship, left us last 9 December. That competition was very important for him, thanks to the trust given to him by the coach Bearzot. After the affair of football bets, which left him out of football for 2 years, Pablito resumed his career in his own hands Sandro Ferrando stadium of Alassio. During the ceremony for the delivery of honorary citizenship to the Azzurri of Mundial 82, Alassio will remember Paolo Rossi and all the players who have now disappeared.
Many testimonies of that “armored” retreat remain today, including some photographs by the photographer Giuseppe Mantovani, brought to light in 2010. These photos, which remained unpublished for years, were then included in the book "Alassio, the Cradle of World Champions '82”, Of the journalist Stefano Franchi (2014). The event for the conferral of honorary citizenship to the Azzurri of Mundial 82 will take place next year.
