Christmas holidays now archived: the concern of many is to get back in shape after the lunches and dinners of the holidays with a good diet. During the holidays it is impossible to resist the lavish tables which in Italy are characterized by top-level menus with succulent and tasteful dishes. But, after the excesses, we need to get back to normal and get the body used to a healthy and balanced diet.
The post-Christmas diet
To lose weight and detoxify after Christmas binges, fasting is not the right solution, as nutrition experts have always repeated. This is because we cannot expect our body to go from one excess to another without suffering certain consequences which could prove harmful to our psycho-physical balance. The basic elements to get back in shape are proper nutrition and physical activity. During the holidays, the foods consumed are almost always fatty, highly seasoned, often fried and in any case very caloric. These dishes are often combined with the intake of alcohol of various kinds: wine, sparkling wine, liqueurs of various kinds.
Really a very heavy mix for our body so, after the holidays, it would be useful to avoid alcohol at the table for quite a few days. Just as it is recommended to minimize carbohydrates: bread and pasta and sweets. In this post-Christmas phase it would be advisable to cook without added fat, consume a lot of fruit, both cooked and raw or in the form of juices, always natural and without added sugar. Fresh or steamed vegetables seasoned with raw olive oil cannot be missing from the diet table. Banned sweets, at least for a few weeks, given the Christmas feast of panettone, pandoro, nougat and so on. Carbonated drinks are also banned; well appreciated herbal teas that are a formidable detox food.
Physical Activity
Those who want to get back in dazzling shape cannot think of wearing tracksuits and sneakers after the holidays to go for physical activity, without an adequate warm-up and a little stretching. In short, going from the sofa to jogging is definitely not a good idea. So, to start moving, it is advisable to stretch your legs and get your body used to the movement take nice walks. First with a slow and relaxed pace then at a brisk pace; day after day you can increase the pace to then get to do some nice jogs preferably in beautiful green areas where you can breathe good and healthy air. Far from the smog and chaos of the city, therefore, to restore body and mind: mens sana in corpore sano, the old saying is still current!
