We've been talking about it for days, now it's official too. There is a new coach in Serie B. The previous coach pays for the team's poor results in the championship. The company announced it a little while ago, even if the news had already been in the air for days.

Serie B, new coach

Here is the press release. “Spezia Calcio announces that it has entrusted the role of head coach of the First Team to Luca D'Angelo, who has signed a contract with the via Melara club until the end of the current season, with automatic extension until 30 June 2025 in case of salvation."

CAREER

The statement continues with a summary of the new coach's career. “His coaching career began in 2010 on the bench of Rimini in Serie D, a team which as a footballer had seen him as an absolute protagonist with the captain's armband, immediately obtaining promotion to Serie C. After three seasons in Romagna, the he landed on the bench of Alessandria in the Lega Pro Seconda Division, and then moved to Fidelis Andria in July 2015, newly promoted to the Lega Pro, while in the following seasons his career was enriched with experiences in Bassano and Caserta, where, after taking at the helm of the team at the beginning of October, he was the protagonist of an extraordinary ride in the return round, with Casertana capable of winning more points than anyone else in the second part of the tournament, finishing in seventh place. In 2018, the move to Pisa marked the fundamental stage of his career for him, so much so that in his first season in Tuscany he obtained promotion to Serie B, beating Triestina in the play-off final. In the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons D'Angelo finished the championship in the middle of the table, and then came close to achieving the feat in the 2021/2022 season: winter champion Pisa placed third, eliminating Benevento in the play-by-play semi-final off and coming out defeated in the final against the battleship Monza, going one step away from the historic promotion to the top flight. Having concluded his parenthesis in Tuscany, Luca D'Angelo will be called back to sit on the Pisa bench in the 2022/23 season, picking up the team in last place in the standings after six days with only two points earned and leading them to safety to say the least calm, after having collected 14 consecutive useful results and finishing just two points away from the playoffs.”
