Notes that echo in an empty theater and musicians with masks playing for a "non-existent" audience. L'Cherubini orchestra, directed by the master Riccardo Muti, performed on Sunday morning in a live streaming concert at Alighieri Theater di Ravenna which, although unusual, turned out to be exciting. The concert was one of the concluding events of the 31st edition of the Ravenna Festival and was entirely dedicated to the composer Franz Schubert. The orchestra performed the Symphony n. 3 in D major D 200 (Adagio majestic. Allegro con brio, Allegretto in G major, Menuetto: Vivace. Trio and Presto Vivace) and the Symphony n. 8 in B minor D 759 (Allegro moderato and Andante con moto), called theUnfinished. The latter was the debut symphony of the young Cherubini orchestra (founded by Muti himself), performed in May 2005 at the Municipal Theater of Piacenza.

Riccardo Muti and the Cherubini orchestra: the second appointment of the Ravenna Festival

The next concert of the Cherubini orchestra with maestro Riccardo Muti is scheduled for Sunday 29 November at 11 am. The repertoire in this case will be entirely dedicated to the great Italian composers. The orchestra will perform pieces by Joseph Martucci (Nocturne op. 70 n.1), by Giacomo Puccini (Symphonic prelude in A major) and by Giuseppe Verdi (Sinfonia da Nabucco, Balllabili da Macbeth - act III, Sinfonia da La Forza del Destino and Sinfonia da I Vespri Siciliani).

Like the previous one, the concert can be followed in live streaming on the Ravenna Festival official website. Using earphones or headphones you can also enjoy an even more exciting, engaging and immersive experience. Technology d & b Soundscaper En-space adopted in the Alighieri Theater allows in fact to perfectly recreate theoriginal acoustics local. Anyone who has missed both concerts will be able to see them again on demand on the Ravenna Festival website (but only for 15 days). Finally, by subscribing to the festival newsletter, it will be possible to access extra content and watch the orchestra rehearsals.

Although it may seem unusual to see a streaming concert in a empty theater, this could soon become the norm. There category of musicians (and artists in general) has been hit hard by the pandemic from Covid-19 and to date the situation is still serious. Even if i first vaccines sure they will begin to circulate in the coming months, it is not clear when it will be possible to return to organizing concerts and shows in contact with the public. The world has changed as well, although the use of direct streaming it can alleviate this “pain” a little, the hope is always to be able to return soon to a full theater, where the sweet sound of the music is interrupted only by the even sweeter noise of the applause of the audience.
