Lecce's press release on the Technical-Economic Feasibility Project
“The U.S. Lecce, in agreement with the Municipality of Lecce, has drawn up the "Technical-Economic Feasibility Project" for the building renovation, safety, hygienic-sanitary adaptation and energy efficiency works of the "Ettore Giardiniero" stadium - Via del Mare strictly necessary to host the Mediterranean Games. This project was financed directly by the U.S. Lecce and donated to the Municipality of Lecce, despite the uncertainty of the process regarding the Mediterranean Games, for the sole purpose of being already "ready to go" should the interventions relating to the restyling of Via del Mare be definitively authorized and consequently brought to completion term in the short period of time remaining before the start of the event. Finally, US Lecce specifies that any further interventions through the participation of private entities are not compatible with the specific purposes of the Mediterranean Games and may be considered separately and subsequently without the use of these specific public funds which at present, it is still reiterated once due to the need for transparency towards their supporters, they do not allow full coverage of the facility.
