In the career of every artist there always comes a moment when one decides to pay homage to their origins. This can happen right away or, as in the case of Neffa, at a distance of more than 30 years. The new album entitled AmarAmmore it is in fact a declaration of love to the Campania origins of the singer-songwriter, born in Scafiti (in the province of Salerno), from a Neapolitan father and Scafiti's own mother. The record, released on 2th April, was anticipated by the song Aggio Perzo 'O Suonno (in collaboration with Coez, production TY1), launched on 12 February. AmaraAmmore arrives like a bolt from the blue, after a silence from Neffa's record that lasted from 2015, year of release of his latest album Resistance.
The AmaraAmmore project: Neffa's Neapolitan soul
Back in 2004, Neffa had already expressed the desire to go back to her roots, not as regards her artistic career (which began with rap), but rather to record a record in Neapolitan. This dream came true only recently with AmaraAmmore. The peculiarity of this disc is in fact the choice to sing each song in the language it was from Toto, of Carosone e Wall. It is a very specific project, which comes more from the heart than from purely record choices. The dedication to the Campania parents can be seen since album cover, in which there is a painting made by his father.
AmaraAmmore's songs are 12 in all, in addition to the aforementioned Aggio Perzo 'or Suonno, the album includes Fujevo, Piccere, Beside you, Nothing is Cagnato (in collaboration with Livio Cori), T'Aggia Verè, Yes me Hi You, chains, Saccio Ca Putesse, Hope, N'Abbarccio and the title track AmarAmmore (in collaboration with Rocco Hunt). Neffa's rap, pop and Neapolitan soul have merged into a well-defined product great musical depth. The challenge for the Bolognese singer-songwriter is now to transform this album into a real success, also appreciated by those who do not fully love Neapolitan music. How will the radio audience react to this "new version di Neffa"? If we consider the numbers obtained by the single Aggio Perzo 'or Suonno in almost two months, the premises are more than encouraging.
