Mattia is a sixteen year old boy and lives in a small Sicilian town called Sommatino. He attended the Mario Rapisardi Commercial Technical Institute in Caltanissetta. Despite the young age it stands out for its maturity and sense of responsibility. Every day she takes care of her disabled little brother with fortitude without ever making him weigh the disabling condition. The little brother is called Damiano, he is ten years old and is very close to Mattia. Whenever he moves, he has to carry bulky medical equipment with him: ventilator, oxygen and oximeter, without which his health would deteriorate quickly.

Sebastiano Mattia wants to help his little brother, he wants to make travel less tiring. He is committed to the design of an intelligent trolley, an integration to Damiano's vehicle on which to safely arrange everything you need. And it succeeds. His invention works: it eases everyone's efforts, including mom and dad, and family walks, all together - as soon as the emergency eases - will certainly become more frequent and serene.

THEintelligence di Mattia does not go unnoticed. The invention is reported by the Italian Society of Pediatrics Alberto Villani to the Presidency of the Republic. An ambitious report one might think. And instead the answer is not late. The Quirinale has found Mattia's work deserving and congratulates it. But that's not enough: the president has decided that he will appoint him Alfiere, personally.

In recent days, the news announces the conferral by Sergio Mattarella of twenty-five certificates of honor from Alfiere della Repubblica. I'm Alfieri - explains the Quirinale - those young people who, due to their behavior or attitudes, represent a model of a good citizen [...] distinguished in study, cultural, scientific, artistic, sporting activities, in voluntary work or who have performed acts or adopted behaviors inspired by a civic sense, altruism and solidarity. And Mattia is among them.

He is naturally proud ofupgrade which he has brought to his little brother's assistive device, but he is also sincere in heart and is keen to emphasize, to the President and to all of us, that the project was realized thanks to the help of a specialized orthopedic company that offered to give concrete form to his design.

Papa Giovanni and mamma Crocetta are proud (how could it be otherwise?) But they praise her more than ingenuity sensibility of the son - responsible from an early age, empathetic with others, they say. And the community of Sommatino is also proud. The public words spent by the mayor Elisa carbone testify to this:

Thank you Mattia for what you do, may your love and your commitment be an example for all of us, so that we can serve our community and improve the lives of others..

And then thanks also from us Mattia, little standard bearer of kindness. Italian to take an example from.
