All of Italy in the red zone for Christmas and New Year
The red zone will be extended to the whole of Italy 10 days: 24-25-26-27 and 31 December, 1-2-3-5 and 6 January. The rules adopted so far in the red regions therefore apply throughout the country. It will be "forbidden to move in and out" both between regions and between municipalities and within them, "except for proven work needs or situations of necessity or for health reasons". It is always possible to return to your home or domicile. Retail businesses are also closed - with the exception of groceries, pharmacies, parapharmacies, newsstands and tobacconists.
While bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors, pastry shops and pubs can only make home delivery and, up to 22 pm, take away. On the other hand, it is allowed to carry out both physical activity, "individually" and "in the vicinity of one's home as long as respecting the distance of at least one meter". And, again, the use of protective devices is mandatory. Furthermore, sporting activities are allowed, but even this only individually and "exclusively outdoors".
Days in orange
Italy will instead be all orange on the 'working' days between the two weeks of the Christmas holidays: 28, 29 and 30 December and 4 January.
Compared to the red zone, there are two main differences: the shops are open and it is always allowed to move within the municipality of residence. However, the decree introduces a provision in favor of small municipalities. In fact, travel from countries with a population not exceeding 5 thousand inhabitants is allowed for a distance of up to 30 kilometers ". Movements to provincial capitals are excluded ”.
For Christmas and New Year's lunches add two seats at the table
For the entire period of the Christmas holidays, however, the government has introduced a derogation from the prohibitions, which will therefore be valid both on the days when Italy is' red 'and in those in which it will be' orange. The derogation consists in allowing the closest relatives to meet for the dinner. "The move to private homes - reads the draft of the decree - is allowed only once a day, in a period of time between 5 and 22 to a single home located in the same region. Always within the limits of two more people than those already living there ". Children under the age of 14 may also be present on whom the two guests exercise parental authority. Also included are disabled or non self-sufficient people living together.
It will be possible to move to the second house
Going to second homes within the same Region will always be possible during the entire holiday period, i.e. from 24 to 6 January. This is what sources from Palazzo Chigi specify regarding the decree on the new Christmas squeeze launched by the government and published in Official Gazette.
