WHO praises Italy in the fight against Coronavirus. Together with Spain, our country has found itself to be the epicenter of the pandemic.
WHO on twitter: "Italy and Spain have overturned a frightening situation"
“In March, Italy and Spain were the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic. But both countries brought the situation back under control through a combination of leadership, humility, active participation of every member of society and by implementing a comprehensive approach. Both countries faced a frightening situation, but they turned it upside down ”. This is the tweet of the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, appeared in the official account of the organization, during the briefing on Covid-19.
WHO and support for Italy
It is not the first time that the World Health Organization has expressed messages of support for Italy. Already in March the general manager Ghebreyesus wrote in a message on twitter: "The government, the Italian people are taking decisive and courageous actions with the aim of slowing the spread of the coronavirus and protecting their country and the world. They are facing considerable sacrifices ".
In the same period, also the director of the WHO Europe Kluge, after a telephone conversation with Minister Speranza, he had shown appreciation for the work carried out by Italy in the fight against Coronavirus.
Italy, a "model" to follow
March 9, 2020 is a date that will remain etched forever in everyone's memories. That day the whole of Italy became the red zone. A lockdown has taken place that has practically stopped everything. From commercial activities to schools and universities, up to sport. Everybody at home. The Coronavirus has made a real massacre; the number of infected people and gods was impressive deaths. But the Italians did not give up. They fought with great courage. Doctors and nurses have worked tirelessly in hospital wards to deal with Covid-19. Many were the volunteers who took to the field to lend a hand to those in need. The social distancing e the use of protective devices. And even when the latter have passed away, the race for solidarity has started.
Throughout Italy, many companies have converted their production and started creating masks. Then there were those who sharpened their creativity and sewed masks to distribute to the population. In addition, multiple parties have been carried out donations. Even in these moments of crisis and tears, the great heart of Italy made itself felt.
The current situation
After the end of the lockdown, Italy began a slow recovery. The commercial activities have reopened and many students have found themselves facing (with great emotion) the maturity exams in the classroom, after having followed the online lessons for months. Little by little, sports activities have also started up again. Coronavirus has certainly changed us. We found ourselves faced with many uncertainties, but we also had certainties. For example, the way the virus is transmitted. The fight against the Coronavirus is not over yet. It is not only the bulletin issued every day by the Civil Protection that reminds us of this, but also the news that reaches us from the world. So, let's not let our guard down.
