World Pasta Day is an unmissable event for food lovers and is celebrated every year on 25 October

The event is sponsored byItalian Food Union together withInternational Pasta Organization (IPO). It was first organized in 1998 with the aim of celebrating one of the main foods of Italian cuisine and the Mediterranean Diet, considered one of the healthiest in absolute terms by nutritionists around the world.

We are of course talking about the pasta, of which Italy is in first place in the world both as a consumer and as a producer. Today we offer you an overview of the World Pasta Day and the reasons why it is worth preparing pasta, perfect to bring to the table in everyday life as well as on the most special occasions.

3 good reasons to eat pasta according to IPO

There are many reasons to eat pasta, which is also confirmed byInternational Pasta Organization: a non-profit association that aims to provide consumers with correct information regarding everything that revolves around this very healthy food.

This is, therefore, something that is far from obvious, since pasta is often associated with a food that makes you fat. Nothing could be further from the truth: like all foods, it depends on the amount which is taken in relation to one's physique and seasoning that is used. Pasta can be consumed every day, if these peculiarities are respected, and with multiple benefits for the body.

The IPO identifies 3 reasons in particular so include pasta in your eating routine. Let's see them together:

  • It is rich in vitamin B and tryptophan, which have the ability to relax the body on a psychophysical level, helping to combat stress and insomnia.
  • Promotes intestinal well-being, which according to doctors and nutritionists is our “second brain” and has a positive impact on good mood.
  • Those who consume 80 grams of it per day in the wholemeal version have the opportunity to reduce the risk of heart attack for 21%.

World Pasta Day: The Perfect Day to Celebrate Pasta

The institution of World Pasta Day was arranged by the organizers to enhance and stimulate attention on a food that is liked by adults and children, managing to combine taste and health.

The pasta can even be inserted inside the Dietary regimes that have weight loss as their goal, with the appropriate precautions. For those who have this goal, it is still necessary to interface with a doctor or a trusted nutritionist: do-it-yourself can have dangerous consequences for the body.

That said, cooking pasta is simple and fun. You can take inspiration from traditional recipes, achieving them faithfully or with customizations. Pasta goes well with vegetables, fish and meat, it is suitable for vegetarians as well as vegans.

In Italy there are over 300 formats of various sizes, capable of never tiring. Finally, pasta lends itself perfectly as a single dish. Let's think of a recipe like pasta with pesto: it is complete in itself and is not the only one.
